Due to the COVID-19 pandemic I am currently offering teletherapy via phone or video. Please let me know your questions and concerns as we move online and work together for your mental and emotional health.
Now Offering Career Assessment and Counseling
Changing careers can be very stressful and it can be hard to know where to start. Career assessment can help a person find a career and workplace that will feel like a good fit.
What will the process be like? We'll start off with an intake, where we can talk about what you're looking for, what questions you have, your work experiences, and your background. Then I will send you some career inventories to complete online. Next we will meet to review the results and begin discussing the careers, workplaces, and work environments that might be a good fit for you. This also comes with a variety of online resources to help you in the job application process. Please let me know if you have any questions and we can tailor the process to your needs.
What is career assessment? I use powerful online assessment tools, such as the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, to help clients make satisfying decisions about their careers. The Strong Interest Inventory is a tool to help people identify a career focus and begin exploring careers that might be satisfying to you. The Myers Briggs Type Indicator helps a person know their personality type and preferences. This can help a person know their personal style of working and learning. And when used alongside the Strong can help a person find work environments that will fit their style and preferences.
My training and experience: I began doing career assessment and counseling when I worked in college counseling. I worked with students who were thinking about how to choose a major, students who were dissatisfied with the work they always thought would be their dream job, and those who were about to graduate and enter the field. Not only can career assessment help people in a career change, it can also be so helpful to think about what kinds of job activities and environments will work with their strengths and personalities. This is why I use a career inventory along with personality assessment, so that you can understand yourself and how to achieve satisfaction in your work.

Why Choose to Begin Therapy?
Choosing to begin therapy can be difficult for many people. If you are experiencing emotional, relational, or mental distress and you are feeling frustrated or losing hope - please talk to someone. There are trained professionals who can help.
It can also be difficult to find the right therapist. I encourage you to take your time and get to know a therapist before beginning therapy. Find someone you like, feel safe with, and feel hopeful about working with. This will go a long way in helping you get what you need. It is also important to talk about logistics, such as payment, timing/schedules, goals, and ground rules. You can do this in a free phone consultation before scheduling a session. There are many kinds of psychotherapy and many different kinds of therapists out there. While some people find meaningful help from seeing a doctor in a large clinic or from taking medicine, I specialize in more a personalized approach. You are not a number to me and I want to spend the time to get to know you, your context, your history, and all the other things that are leading you to consider beginning therapy at this time.
